For a Sister named Rose. Beautiful Sisters , Blue hearts and Rose hearts have very special meaning to them.
When it comes to creation you must begin from below the belly and through the spine. The internal stirrings. Where it aches. Where is sighs. You must reach into the prana, right where it pulses through the heart, pull that energy upward, and pour it all out. If you begin in the head and analyze what to say or do, it won't seep into other people. They won't feel it where it counts unless it comes straight from the depths, and the vulnerability of you. I love to draw and paint. Everything I make comes from my soul -- for me, painting is equivalent to praying or meditating. However when I sit down to create my commissioned pieces -- oooh they are an entirely different delight. A whole 'nother extra layer. I ask for favorite colors, for a quote that inspires, and then I sit at my studio table taking in these ideas, meditating on someone else for a moment. I love getting to know someone in this way. I get to send my love into the painting and on to a new home, it is awesome. Then, I always get an uneasy feeling before I hear back from the recipient of each commission. I feel very vulnerable, kind of exposed. A wee bit of unrest sets in. Will they like it? Will it resonate? This is when I have to remind myself gently, I am grateful, all is well. When the painting is well received, I do a happy dance and exhale.
What makes you feel vulnerable?
For my dear sister. Inspired by a class I took in Lifebook 2014
Off to a wonderful young woman, she seems so amazing, her quote is written amongst the musical notes, her favorite color is yellow, her favorite flower is magnolia. It is a gift from her Mother.
Off to Sweden, favorite colors are blues and greens and she loves quotes from Stud Terkel. Oh yes, that can happen.
