“Let yourself be silently drawn by the strange pull of what you really love. It will not lead you astray.”
I love this quote.
It is so befitting today as I sit here pondering all things in my art room.
Why do I keep showing up?
What is this call, this pull?
I haven’t produced a masterpiece, I just love to create.
I show up, sometimes things come out and I like them, sometimes not at all.
So recently I started saying yes to things.
I joined an Artist Club in Farmington, oh yes!
Can you show up and help paint a Sunflower mural, oh yes!
We are having a Tent for the Festival in a few weeks want to display some of your work? Oh yes!
Oh yes, I have been in my art studio painting things to go in frames I own and small canvases.
Oh yes, a little watercolor, some acrylics, some collage, lots of little paintings .
Then, the "who do you think you ares?" started showing up. The "you are not enough's".
The "real people are going to look at your work and they will not like it's" or "you or anything you have ever done in your miserable, little ,tiny life!"
Seriously? Oh yes! My monsters are very mean, mean, mean.
I feel vulnerable.
But I am showing up and stretching and saying yes!
The funny thing is, I keep getting the happiest, you go girl emails, letters and messages right now, every time I say yes.
And so I am both vulnerable and absolutely delighted.
If you have time this weekend and you are in Farmington, Michigan stop by the Yellow striped Art Tent located at the Nothwest corner of Farmington Road and Grand River, behind the Masonic Temple Saturday between 4 and 7:30. Say YES! I would love to see you.
oh ps. Today what will you say YES to?
