So, I started walking, trying to start a new healthy habit. I found a serene path around a golf course . It is just a little over three miles and it is very quiet between 6:30 and 7:30 a.m.
Headphones in, listening to some upbeat music and trying to complete the walk in a good time is how I do it.
I started noticing how beautiful the mornings are. The golf course path was free from dogs (dogs startle me, I startle them). The sun is soft and not glaring . The morning birds are delightfully chirping.
I frequently see a woman who walks her fluffy white dog, a thin woman on a bicycle, a darling couple that walk real fast side by side.
One morning I met the kindest man. His name is Bill and he walks the same path as I do, only in the opposite direction. He has a ball scooper and he walks around the golf course with a plastic bag and picks up garbage.
Recently, I stopped to thank him and he said he was a friend of the golf course and he likes to maintain the path and he told me about golf, his family and his grandchildren.
He now cheers me on and I cheer him on. I love my ordinary life. I am grateful that Bill continues to keep a small part of the world clean and beautiful. It is magical to me.
It is the simple things I am grateful for.
What simple things are you grateful for ?
